As you read about them here today, remember that everyone who comes to Midwood Addiction Treatment Center gets individualized treatment. While you have the opportunity to receive these benefits, you may have many more or some that are different, too. What Exactly is Outpatient Rehab?

outpatient

Outpatient rehab is an alcohol, drug or mental health disorder treatment center. It is offered during the daytime, so the client can go back home afterwards. It is different than inpatient treatment, where the client lives in the rehab center for a set period of time.

There are various types of outpatient treatment that have different requirements.

Outpatient mental health or addiction treatment generally happens in the following places:

  • Hospital clinics
  • Mental health clincis
  • Counselor’s office
  • Local health department offices
  • Outpatient building for mental health or addiction treatment

The days someone might attend this type of treatment varies. For example, with standard outpatient therapy the client generally only attends t herapy 1 or 2 times a week for an hour or two each time. Some people only go to this type of treatment for 3 months while others may go for a couple of years. On the other side, there is intensive outpatient treatment which could require the client to attend treatment 5 days in a row and have the weekends off. Generally, though, treatment is 20 hours total spread between 3 days.

What Are The Benefits Of Outpatient Rehab?

There are numerous reasons why someone may want to pick outpatient rehab instead of inpatient rehab. One benefit of this type of rehab is that people can continue working while they attend the treatment program. Some other benefits of this type of treatment include:

  • Lower cost than most other addiction and mental health disorder treatment programs
  • Being more flexible with your schedule as there are fewer days than with other treatment options
  • Having more time to spend with family, friends, and other members of your support network
  • Being able to apply what you are learning in the rehab center in your life
  • Getting guidance from the therapist as you work through underlying issues in your recovery

These are some of the main benefits of attending an outpatient addiction or mental health treatment program. Now that you are aware of these benefits, you may be considering entering this type of program. If so, reach out to our Midwood Addiction Recovery team today and we can help you get started.

Outpatient Detox Programs

It can be a struggle to detox from alcohol and drugs. Most people who have been abusing these substances for some time have unpleasant experiences when going through the detox process. Sometimes, even those who have a mild addiction will experience:

  • Nausea
  • Body aches
  • Depression
  • Anxiety

Before getting into a treatment program, the client must be substance-free which includes detoxing drugs and alcohol out of the body. The problem is that sometimes, the results of a detox are fatal if not managed properly. In most cases, it isn’t safe or the best option to detox on your own. There are outpatient and inpatient detox facilities that are effective and safe. In these programs, you will have medical staff who can provide the proper medications to help ease your symptoms and monitor your detox process.

It might be a good idea for you to maintain your supportive relationships while doing an outpatient detox program, so you don’t feel isolated during this process. The outpatient process can be trying. However, with the right type and enough support, you can get the help you need.

The Outpatient Rehab Cost Benefits

Are you avoiding rehab or detox because you are worried about the cost? If so, there are programs and other resources that can help cover these costs. Even without any help, you may want to go through an outpatient rehab program as those are much less money than inpatient or partial hospitalization programs.
